The Essence Music Festival in New Orleans owes me absolutely NOTHING! There was so much Black Girl Magic there that I feel like I owe THEM something! It was so nice to be in the midst of so many like-minded ladies with their beautiful hair and clothes and personalities. Then you throw in the great food and music and it's the BEST TIME YOU'LL likely have all year!
My focus was on Miguel. I hadn't seen him in a few years, so I was anxious to hear his new stuff. He performed on the first night and DID NOT disappoint! But after that, it was ALL about the ladies! Having the chance to meet and hang out with some of the most famous actresses and singers in the world made for an unforgettable weekend. Rocsi Diaz, Regina Hall and celebrity stylists Misa Hylton-Brim and J. Bolin(among others) were all so kind and funny and gave great hugs! The exhibits and giveaways keep attendees engaged and make them so happy they came!
And then, there was Iyanla! She didn't spend enough time with me to fix my life but she said something in a brief but sweet moment that I will carry in my heart forever! I can't even tell you what she said because it was JUST for me. Those who follow me can surely see changes that have taken place since my time in New Orleans in July! More importantly, I've seen the transformation into a better woman, a better person who's living a better life! Get your life...go to Essence Fest next year! Tell 'em I sent you! Now...GO be happy!!
